Elite Academy May 2022

The Elite Academy will focus on individual skill development for every level and position.  The fast-paced Academy sessions will challenge players to improve their individual skills in a positive learning environment.

Elite Academy sessions will be held 1-2 times weekly, and players may attend one or both sessions.  Each session will be different and throughout the season we will work on basketball fundamentals, one on one offense and defense, three on three offense and defense, guard play, post play and basketball IQ.

The Elite Academy is open to all players, so whether you are a Desert Elite player, YMCA or Boys and Girls Club player, Recreational player, play with another club or simply desire additional training to improve your game, the Elite Academy is for you.

Training is done on a month-to-month basis.  To sign up, go to the Registration tab, or click HERE.

Make More Shots - Special May Shooting Clinics

Tuesdays May 3, 10, 17 and 24

DFAC Shooting Clinics will have a different look in May.  Instead of focusing on shooting form in general, we will teach 3 types of shots to help players Make More Shots in games.

In May, we will only work on the Euro Step, the Tony Parker Floater and the Steph Curry Pull Up and players will get tons of reps for each shot specialty at each Tuesday clinic.

The Euro Step is one of the most lethal moves in basketball to evade a defender and finish at the basket.  The Euro Step is a 2-step move where a player takes a step in one direction and a long step in another direction.

Tony Parker Floater is a great touch shot for smaller guards and also for bigs coming off the pick and roll.

Tony Parker explained why he started working on the floater.  Parker said:

I’ve been doing that since I was small, because I was very small growing up.  It took me a long time to grow a little bit, so that was the only way for me to shoot the ball over the bigs.  So, I created that shot because it was the only way I could score, and so I guess by doing it all the time every day it became a great shot for me.

Stephen Curry is one of the best shooters in NBA history and his legendary Pull Up Jumper makes him a great 3-point and perimeter shooter.

Steph Curry is known for his strong work ethic and dedication to being a great shooter.  Curry once said:

“They said I wasn’t tall enough. They said I wasn’t strong enough. I never heard them. I doubt they are saying anything now.”

All Playmaker Live practices in May are FREE!
Playmaker Live is a Live and Online training program through Zoom in the convenience and safety of your own home.
Go to to view schedule and register.

Register Online and the login information will be emailed registered players approximately 30 minutes prior to the start of the session.

Each player will need to have a computer, cell phone or tablet to participate.  Each practice is different, and players will need to have about a 4 foot by 8-foot space they can use to do the drills in your home, garage or outside.  To watch a short video preview of a Zoom online session, Click Here or go to the website and you can view a full practice in the gallery.  This will give you an idea of how much space each player will need.
